Welcome to the Winter Wellness class! Winter months mean more time indoors, less time in the sunshine that produces vitamin D, and more germs being spread around! If you are like me, you or your family may suffer from constant runny noses or, even worse, constant sickness throughout the winter months. Winter remedies are one of the reasons I love oils SO much. In this class, you'll learn:+How to support your loved ones through the most common seasonal issues using the power of plants.
+Three ways you can use oils with your family this winter.
+My most used recipes and what I recommend to stock on your herbal shelf to make them all winter!
You can reply to this email with any questions.

Thieves essential oil blend combines Cinnamon Bark, Lemon, Rosemary, Eucalyptus, and Clove essential oils. This blend was inspired by the legend of four 15th-century French thieves who formulated and wore a particular aromatic combination of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals they believed protected them while stealing from recently plague-ridden dead bodies.
Thieves blend has a warm, spicy scent and is perfect for winter!
Staying healthy can be challenging when it’s sniffles season. All of the oils in this blend are great for purifying, cleansing, and overall immune support as a daily clean-out. Apply this roller to the feet and spine every night as a preventative.

Let's chat about THE best oils for your collection this winter! If you do not yet have our YL Reference Guide, called our “oil bible,” you can grab one here and look up whatever you need!
These oils are the most amazing to have on your shelf for back-to-school remedies and DIYs! Try Thieves and Lemon Vitality oils for a soothing Be-Well tea.
Other oils great for tea include Thieves, Purification, RC/Raven, Exodus 2, Eucalyptus Blue or Globulus, Hyssop, Thyme, Basil, Lemon Myrtle, Melrose, Oregano, Ocotea, Pine, Lemon, Geranium. The health effects of many of these oils have been proven through scientific studies.

Stuffy or runny noses can lead to ear aches, and lots of sleepless nights for you and your little ones. Again, oils come to the rescue–and especially Purification, Lavender, Basil and Helichrysum.
You want to apply oils to the outside of the ears; move your fingers from the top of the ear to the bottom and then down the neck where the lymph node drains! These tips will help you and them sleep without the annoyance of the sniffles!
Just for little ones: put a drop of SniffleEase on the nose and chest. SniffleEase is part of the KidScents collection, so it comes pre-diluted and ready to use on children ages two and up!

When it comes to respiratory support, RC, Raven and Lemon are great for opening up your respiratory channels and reducing occasional inflammation (and the Bark) in your chest.
RC (short for Respiratory Care) is a powerful blend of Blue Spruce, Pine, Peppermint, Cypress, other oils and three types of Eucalyptus oils (E. globulus, E. radiata, and E. citriodora). It supports the airways and the feeling of normal, clear breathing. It’s ideal for diffusing, and can be made into a chest rub. You do NOT want to run out of this one!
Raven is RC’s powerhouse big brother! It blends Ravintsara, Peppermint, Eucalyptus Radiata, Lemon and Wintergreen. With the Ravintsara (otherwise known as Camphor) and Wintergreen, Raven creates a cooling sensation and helps open airways when applied topically to the chest and throat or used in a diffuser.
SniffleEase is part of the KidScents collection, so it comes pre-diluted and ready to use on children ages 2 and up! Put a drop of SniffleEase on the nose and chest and wait a few minutes!
Pro tip: Put a drop of RC or Raven on the corner of the shower floor, turn on the hot water and you have the best little steam shower!

Breathing support is so easy with oils! Breathe Again Roller is an absolute necessity for this time of year because it does what it says. I will rub this right on my chest, sinuses, and forehead and let it work its magic.Thieves Chest Rub helps reduce cough and is safe for family members ages two and up to:
+Provide maximum-strength cough relief and acts as a cough suppressant
+Temporarily relieve stuffiness, cough, and congestion from minor throat and bronchial irritation
+Support healthy breathing
+Provide aromatic vapors that soothe nasal passages
+Act quickly to provide relief
+Help relieve chest aches associated with colds

Holistic Non-Oily Tip: Wet Sock TreatmentThe Wet Sock Treatment is a natural method of stimulating the immune system. Combined with Thieves Chest Rub, it uses the healing power of nature. In a nutshell, you take ice-cold wet socks, put them on, and wear them overnight. The body reacts to the cold socks by increasing blood circulation, which stimulates the immune system.
This treatment reflexively increases circulation and decreases congestion in the upper respiratory passages, head, and throat. It is a calming treatment to help most people sleep better through the night. Used with other modalities, wet socks can treat inflammation, infection or soreness of the throat, headaches, migraines, nasal congestion, upper respiratory infections, coughs, and sinus infections.
Directions: First, warm feet in the bath and then apply Thieves Chest Rub to them. Grab a pair of cotton socks, soak in ice water and wring out. Cover your feet with the cotton socks, then with a thick pair of dry wool socks. Go to bed and avoid getting chilled. Wear them overnight, until the socks are warm and dry. It’s best to start on the first day of feeling bad, and continue three more nights.

This DIY recipe is easy to make and keep on hand in your natural medicine cabinet! It can be an instant fix, or put into a roller to carry for convenient on-the-go use.
Thieves Cough Drops are another alternative for throat ills. They are minty, spicy, and sweet without processed sugar, dyes, artificial flavors, or preservatives and made with naturally derived ingredients, including pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils and natural menthol from peppermint.
Pro Tip: Spray Thieves Natural Throat Spray onto the back of your throat for soothing relief!

To detox the body of unwanted guests, take a comforting detoxifying bath! Just add essential oils to Epsom salts, which is an important source of magnesium.
Magnesium is the second most abundant element in human cells and the fourth most important positively charged ion in the body. It helps the body regulate over 325 enzymes!
Oils can be added for different purposes, such as Thieves, Lemon and Purification for clearing out the system, our favorite sleepytime oils for relaxation, or our powerful oils for easing aches and pains.

Elderberries are rich in vitamins A, B, and C and have been a traditional cold and flu remedy for hundreds of years. They are known to have high antioxidant activity, and the bioflavonoids and other proteins in the berry's juice destroy the ability of a cold or flu virus to infect a cell. Many people will add spices, but I add essential oils for extra immune support! These can include:
Thieves–A known immune-boosting blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus radiata and rosemary.
Nutmeg – Besides tasting and smelling like fall, this oil encourages optimal digestive function, combats occasional inflammation, supports joints and promotes cardiovascular health.
Clove – This one is super high in antioxidants.Ginger – This oil can stimulate and regulate digestion.
Cinnamon Bark – It’s a powerful support to the immune system.
Frankincense – One of the gifts given to Jesus by the Three Wise Men, it’s been used for centuries. Google Frankincense oil for more!

Elderberry Syrup Recipe: This is the recipe I used - it was SO easy!
Pour water into a medium saucepan and add elderberries (do not add honey or EOs). Bring to a boil and then cover and reduce to a simmer for about 45 minutes to an hour until the liquid has reduced by almost half. Remove from heat and let cool enough to be handled. Mash the berries carefully using a spoon or other flat utensil. Pour through a strainer into a glass jar or bowl. Discard the elderberries (or compost them!) and let the liquid cool to lukewarm. When it is no longer hot, add 1 cup of honey and a drop of each essential oil and stir well. Pour the syrup into a quart-sized mason jar or 16-ounce glass bottle.
Here is where to grab your organic elderberries.
